    Hacking Lenovo X200

Bonne lecture, JLBCS to LENOVO LENOVO 1009 Think Place Les Renardières Morrisville, NC 27560 1, place Victor Hugo United States 92400 Courbevoie France Copy: UFC Quechoisir 233 boulevard Voltaire 75011 Paris Somewhere November 14th. 2010 Dear sirs, Back in 2006, I purchased a Lenovo 3000 C100 from a french distributor. The computer reference is : Type 0761-3AG S/N L3-B9807 dated 06/03. This computer is equipped with Windows XP Home Edition Even though I used Rescue and Recovery to take a weekly backup, the performance of the system are totally degraded by the imbrication of applications that have been installed and then removed. So after 4 years, I came to the point where I need to restore my system from the partition SRVICEV001 defined on the hard drive. I looked at Rescue and Recovery to boot from the service partition, as this function is indicated in the maintenance guide form N° S41W-2704-00 distributed along with the computer. (this is the french version). On page 33, it is said : Click on BIOS access. Then later : The computer restart and the BIOS configuration is displayed. In fact this is no longer true. You cannot get to BIOS using Rescue and Recovery. This is actually what I received: Acces BIOS impossible Press F1 during power on I followed the instruction and restart the computer, with F1 pressed. I works beautifully but asked for a password, which I never received, neither from the retailer nor from any Lenovo service. I have tried : All 0s All 1s All 9s The computer serial number All of them failed and I am in a dead-end. If no one can access to the original distribution of the software, it is useless to distribute it. So I am asking you, Lenovo, to distribute with each computer, the BIOS password. This also apply to previously sold computers, including the one I purchased 4 years ago.Yours sincerely, JLBCS
