How cool is Dash2gam?

Hi, I found what it might be a bug (or a tragic coincidence). After I used the FTP patch for version 2.3, (or maybe when I upgraded to 2.3) My third controller port stop working.

In fact, once Im in the dashboard, if I disconnect one controller (anyone) and I plug it again, it doesnt work. But the third one is dead since 2.3.

Oh! Ive just remeber something and Ive tried a moment ago. Dash2Gam is my default dashboard, BTW. Here is another weird thing (which make me believe that is a software issue, not hardware). If I turn on my console with a controller pluged to the third port, it doesnt work as I mentiones earlier, AND if I go to the dashboard Saves screen it appears as 3 or more memory cards were connected. It only happens when something is plugged to the third port.

ok about the memory issue, you might have UIX installed and you are getting the memory screen from UIX (seems to cause issues). Get rid of UIX (please for the love of god!) and your problem shall be fixed. As for the controller issue, as long as you double check you are updated w/ the latest dash2gam and update you should NOT have any issues w/ the controller ports. Before the latest version I used to have issues with that too but not after the *update*.

In d2g v2.3 is there a way to get around the 45 icon entry limit in the icons.xip? Does it have to do with the dash itself or the skin?

That does not work for me with dash2gam v2.3 ...... It works with dash2gam v2.2 though.

I do not understand french. Anyone know how to make icons show in v2.3? I understand it is not the same format as v2.2 .

The first tiime, when i took the Icons.xip that comes with the Dashboard Dash2Gam, i've modified the default.xap adding the new ones, the icons did appears but the skins was strange, bad colors and disappearing images, but the game icons did appears.

Then, i make a new Icons.xip with only my icons, this time, the skin was ok, colors and images ok, but the game icons don't appears.

can anybody help me?

In v2.2, I edited my icons.xip file to show game icons, i found out that there was a bug when adding more than 45 entries to the default.xap file within the icons.xip. That bug caused the colors to mess up on v2.2. Hope that helps.

For v2.3, in the description above it says:

- For the icons in Icons.xip, enter the directory name of the application/game/... as name of the icon to show

I have tried to figure this out and I still cant get it to work. Lets say I have the game "Fable" in F:/Games/Fable . I have the fable.xbx icon file in the icons.xip. How would I edit the default.xap ? This is what I tried and it didn't work:

Your xbe should ALSO be in the root of C or wherever your bios loads the xbe's on startup. AND also modify your config.ini and/or config_pro.ini to reflect any changes. Hope this helps.

BTW, how are you launching the dashboard?

I created a new icons pack for my xbox games. Now all my games have icons on them . You my icons.xip here. I also had changed some of the standard xbe game names so some of the xap's are named differently than what came with the game.

Has anyone try making a updated "icons.xip" file for dash2gam v2.2? The xip only contains like 20 icon images for games. I guess I can do it *sigh* but I am sure someone out there already created one.

Anyone else not have sound? I have a background wma song playing for my background music, but i have no transition sound between menu's. Is this a problem for anyone else? Dash2gam 2.0 had the transition sounds but they were lost in 2.2

dash2gam folder is in E drive, dash2gam.xbe is in root of C drive.

I am still trying to figure out why my video is cropped on the dash.

Does anyone know if I can change the screen size in the config_pro.ini so the dashboard is full screen? The dashboard is cut off on my screen. Is it because i am NTSC not PAL ?

Ok, i figured the ftp was not configured directly in dash2GAM, but just an external program. Works fine, thanks for your help.

As for the background audio.. when I first boot dash2GAM i get this quick audio noise and then silence once the dash is loaded. I figure that short audio file that plays is preventing the Ambience from playing. Where is the background sounds located that dash2GAM uses?

How can I make dash2gam have the ambience music like in the original M$DASH? I notice the sounds in dash2gam are taken from the original dash... does the ambience folder have to be named something different.... maybe something in french?

The ambience folder is in C\Audio\AmbientAudio

Now My big question?!

HOW do I get the FTP to work, I configured an IP and my gateway info... (or does it not work through dash2gam)

and

HOW can I have that original M$DASH Ambience noise in the background of Dash2GAM ( I kinda like it )?
